It was a vital victory for Celtic, extending their Scottish Premiership lead to eight points.
Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer said the win meant more to the players because of recent tough games away to Killie.
Ajer told the club’s official website that the team had not been satisfied with recent results at Rugby Park.
He said: “We’ve not been happy with the performances in the last games here at Rugby Park, but you have to really respect Kilmarnock, too. They’ve been fantastic in the last two seasons, and it’s one of the toughest places to come to.
“There’s a long way to go, but it’s games like this that are so important. To get three points is really good.”
Ajer’s comments show the focus Celtic currently have as they look to win an eighth straight title.
Their domestic form has been perfect since the mid-season break, allowing them to capitalise on rivals Rangers’ slip ups and extend their advantage.
The game away to Kilmarnock was ‘on paper’ one of the team’s hardest games.
It’s no wonder the celebrations for Scott Brown’s winner reflected a team which appeared to be closing in on further trophy success.
