Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic will face Zenit Saint Peterburg at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership this week.

Brendan Rodgers’s side will take on Russian Premiership club Zenit at Celtic Park in the first leg of the Europa League round of 32 tie on Thursday evening.
The Hoops will head into the match on the back of a 3-2 victory over Partick Thistle at home in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.

Ajer played for the entire 90 minutes of the tie, having recovered from an injury he suffered against Kilmarnock.
The 19-year-old central defender has stated that he is ready to start for Celtic against Zenit.
Ajer told The Scottish Sun: “The injury’s OK. I’ve taken some pain-killers so I feel OK now. It was a bruised bone in the heel but it’s fine.”

Positive news
Ajer’s comments will be welcomed by the Celtic fans, who will know that a good performance at the back at home on Thursday evening is key to the team winning the tie.
With star defender Dedryck Boyata out of the first leg against Zenit, the Norway Under-21 international central defender will have to step up and give one of his best performances to date for Celtic.
