Kris Commons believes that Kieran Tierney’s performance in Celtic’s Champions League games could potentially lead to greater interest in him.
Kris Commons has suggested that the interest in Kieran Tierney could step up to another level depending on how he gets on in Celtic’s upcoming Champions League games, BBC Sport reports.
Tierney is arguably one of the most impressive players within the Hoops squad currently despite the fact that he is only 20 years of age.

The academy graduate is surely the best left-back in the Scottish Premiership, and has shown a similar level of quality when deployed in other roles amongst the back four – while he also excelled when asked to captain the team in Scott Brown’s absence recently.
Tierney will be hoping to help Celtic qualify for the group-stages of the Champions League this week with the first-leg of their play-off tie with Astana on the horizon, and Commons thinks that these kind of games could make the Hoops’ job of trying to keep him much tougher.
“I think they will be waiting to see how he is in these Champions League games,” the former Celtic forward suggested, as reported by BBC Sport, when discussing whether interest in Tierney from Europe’s heavyweights could intensify in the near future.
“If they are going to spend £10-30m on a player, they need to know he’s able to play against Ronaldo and Bale.”
Unfortunately for Tierney, injury meant that he was only able to play in three of their group games last term, and while they secured a spirited draw with Manchester City amongst those three games, they also suffered hugely disappointing defeats to Barcelona and Borussia Monchengladbach.

But if Rodgers’ men can get past Astana and then manage to get a bit more luck with the group-stage draw – their pool was arguably the group of death last term – then perhaps they will stand a much greater chance of progressing further in the competition.
Though Commons appears to fear that if they do do well and Tierney plays a crucial role in their run then Celtic may perhaps an even tougher fight trying to keep him.
