Celtic star Tom Rogic has a big summer ahead of him.

Kris Commons has told The Glasgow Evening Times that Tom Rogic is likely to get a big move away from Celtic this summer if he impresses in the World Cup.

The Australia international’s future at Parkhead is in some doubt and, with his contract expiring in 2019, Celtic could be forced to offload him in fear of losing the midfielder for free next summer.

The 25-year-old enhanced his reputation on Sunday with an exceptional performance in the Hoops’ 5-0 demolition of Rangers, which gifted Brendan Rodgers’s side a seventh successive Scottish Premiership crown.

Commons reveals that he complimented the “poetry in motion” that Rogic displayed in a post-match text to him at the weekend, but urges Celtic to clarify his future before the World Cup kicks off in six weeks.

“Tom has the opportunity this summer to showcase his ability in front of the world and if he turns in the kind of world-class displays like he did for 60 minutes against Rangers at the weekend then clubs will be after him,” he told The Glasgow Evening Times.

“He’s a goalscorer and his ability to receive the ball has improved tenfold since I first saw him. But Tom is in the form of his life at the moment. He is not even having to think about things. It is all just coming naturally to him.

“He was in the zone. It was a joy to watch from attacking sense. That’s why I said it was poetry in motion in my text to him.”

Rodgers himself has recently said that he would not stand in Rogic’s way if he wanted to leave and that is looking increasingly likely.

The towering midfielder, who only earns around £15,000 per week in Glasgow [Daily Star], has been one of Celtic’s best players for a number of years and fans can hardly complain if he winds up moving to the Premier League for instance.
