Celtic are pursuing Hibernian midfielder John McGinn.

Pundit and former Celtic star Kris Commons has told the Daily Mail (24/07, p74) that the Bhoys need to pay what is expected for Hibernian midfielder John McGinn.
The Bhoys have tied up two signings this summer, as loanees Scott Bain and Odsonne Edouard both penned permanent deals with Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Celtic are attempting to reach the Champions League group stage once again, but manager Rodgers should still be in the market for more additions ahead of the transfer deadline.
A number of players are being linked with moves to Celtic Park, but the strongest link so far has been with Hibernian midfielder John McGinn.
The Scottish Sun report that Celtic have now made three bids for McGinn, with the most recent one totalling £2million, but all offers have been rejected by the Edinburgh club.
The 23-year-old midfielder has starred for Hibs since joining the club from St Mirren in 2015, becoming a regular for the Scotland national team off the back of his displays at Easter Road.
McGinn has just a year left on his Hibs contract, meaning Neil Lennon’s men may be forced to sell at some point, but Celtic’s low-ball approach hasn’t impress ex-Bhoys and Hibs midfielder Kris Commons.

The pundit has told the Daily Mail (24/07, p74) that Celtic are simply dragging the saga out as they know what they need to be, and criticised the club for not paying up, before warning them that they could lose out to an English club if they’re not careful.
“I’m always a believer that, if you want a player, go and get him. Just pay what’s expected,” said Commons. “There have been rumours of £1.4m, £1.7m, now £2m. Celtic are clearly aware of what the asking price is. But they are trying to drag it out.”
“The only concern for Celtic is if another team from down south comes in with an improved bid. With all the hype surrounding John McGinn and the fact he’s now a Scotland international, £2.5m is a snip for any team,” he added.
