Glasgow Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is in good form for Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club at the moment.
Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos
Commons suggested that Rangers would have a real problem in scoring goals if Morelos – who has been on the books of the Gers since the summer of 2017 when he moved to the Glasgow giants from Finnish club HJK Helsinki for a transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £1.5 million – is injured.
Commons said on Sky Sports Main Event on Monday morning (11:20am, November 5, 2018) when asked if Rangers are too reliant on Morelos: “I think he’s the only striker that’s capable of leading the line.
“I know Kyle Lafferty is a very good player at this level when he’s fully fit, but he is not currently. I don’t think they have got anyone in the background that can come in and do what Morelos does.”
“If he is injured, they have got a real problem to try and keep pace because they are not scoring many goals at the minute,” added Commons.

Over-reliance on Alfredo Morelos
Umar Sadiq has failed to make an impact at Rangers so far this season, and it is hard to see the AS Roma-owned striker do much of note anytime soon.
Kyle Lafferty remains a proven goalscorer at this level, but the Northern Ireland international forward has not exactly been great since his move from Heart of Midlothian in the summer transfer window.
Morelos is one of the best strikers in the Scottish Premiership, and the Colombia international is scoring goals for fun at the moment.
The 22-year-old has scored five goals and provided five assists in 10 Scottish Premiership appearances for Rangers so far this season, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
