Pundit Kris Commons has told The Scottish Daily Mail (The Verdict, p16, 22/04) that he thinks Celtic’s Olivier Ntcham ‘couldn’t do anything right’ against Hibernian.

Celtic travelled to Edinburgh on Sunday afternoon in search of a win to move another step closer to the league title, but they served up a disappointing display.

Neil Lennon’s return to Easter Road ended in a 0-0 draw, as Celtic were laboured and toothless going forward, failing to grasp any of the 20 chances they created.

Hibs defended well and posed a threat going forward, and the draw means Celtic still need four points in order to clinch the title after Rangers beat Hearts on Saturday.

It was another concerning display for Celtic under interim boss Lennon, as they notched a third goalless draw under his management having recorded just two in the rest of the season under Brendan Rodgers.

Celtic have scored just five goals in their last six league games under Lennon, and pundit Commons believes that the confusion over whether or not Lennon will be handed the job permanently is negatively impacting performances.

Commons also criticised midfielder Ntcham, much like pretty much everyone else has, feeling that he ‘couldn’t do anything right’ against Hibs, which contributed to Celtic having no control of the midfield on Sunday.

“The midfield was a particular concern,” said Commons. “They had no real control in the middle of the park and it was one of those games for Olivier Ntcham where he couldn’t seem to do anything right. It’s frustrating for Lennon because he obviously wants to put his own stamp on the team and change certain things in terms of how they play.”

“Lennon’s in the car but he’s not at the wheel and no tin control of where Celtic are going as they haven’t given him the job on a permanent basis yet. With so much uncertainty around the manager’s future, that has to feed down into the squad and it is affecting performances,” he added.
