Celtic have now lost back-to-back games against Rangers at Ibrox.

Glen Kamara of Rangers is tackled by Oliver Burke of Celtic during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox Stadium on May 12, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Sky Sports pundit Kris Commons savaged Oliver Burke’s technique during Celtic’s 2-0 defeat to bitter rivals Rangers on Sunday afternoon at Ibrox.

The West Brom loanee missed a guilt-edge opportunity from point-blank range when the scores were 1-0 as his team went on to deservedly lose the contest.

Odsonne Edouard made a great run on the left-hand side before cutting the ball back for Burke, who scuffed his shot straight at the Gers keeper.

Speaking to Sky Sports Football (12/05/2019 at 2:15 pm), Commons made it clear what the problem with Burke’s game is as Boyd joked about the issue to the former Celtic man who was clearly annoyed at him missing that chance.

“Edouard does absolutely superb here [to make the run and deliver the pass],” Commons told Sky Sports Football. “But he [Burke] should score. I am sorry. What is it seven, eight yards [out] at most? Possibly 10.

“He’s got to get a better connection. That’s just bad technique. That is the only downfall for that moment right there. Bad technique. He should score the goal. It’s because his technique isn’t good enough that’s why he didn’t score.”

“It was a great save by Foderingham,” Boyd laughed and joked to Commons who responded by saying, “He did alright, didn’t he? He came in and did well.”

Butke is not a natural striker but since moving to the Scottish Premiership he has been deployed in a forward role which has not suited his game

He started his career at Nottingham Forest where he played on the flanks for the club but since his move to then-Premier League club West Brom, he has struggled to prove his worth in the attacking third.

The versatile attacker played the full match at Ibrox and it remains to be seen if Neil Lennon sticks with him in the starting XI as the Bhoys chase the treble-treble.

After the Scottish Premiership draws to a close, Celtic will face Hearts in the Scottish Cup final where they are chasing history.
