Rangers lost 2-0 to Celtic at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon.

Pundit Kris Commons has told the Daily Mail that he thinks Rangers have to question whether they can afford to give manager Pedro Caixinha any more money on new signings.
The Gers splashed the cash on 11 new signings over the summer, as Caixinha was backed with the signings like Bruno Alves, Graham Dorrans, Daniel Candeias and Alfredo Morelos to boost his Ibrox revolution.
A host of players were allowed to leave the club as Rangers looked to close the gap to Celtic, but early signs suggest that the Gers still remain some way short of their Old Firm rivals.
The two sides met for the first time this season on Saturday afternoon, and Celtic ran out 2-0 winners at Ibrox thanks to second half goals from duo Tom Rogic and Leigh Griffiths.

Rangers were still chasing shadows against Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side, with Caixinha’s midfield particularly struggling to get to grips with the movement of players like Rogic and Stuart Armstrong.
Caixinha brought in three new faces to boost his options over the summer, as Dorrans, Ryan Jack and Carlos Pena all joined the club, but they didn’t have the legs to track and chase the Celtic midfield, showing a major deficiency in the Rangers side.
After the game, pundit Kris Commons has slammed Caixiha’s summer signings, suggesting to the Daily Mail that whilst he has spent £8million on new players, there isn’t any sort of considerable improvement in the Rangers side – and now believes the Ibrox hierarchy have a major decision to make.

Commons feels that Rangers have to wonder whether they can afford to give Caixinha any more money to spend having failed to make any progression since taking the job in March, and if Rangers don’t trust their Portuguese boss to spend in the transfer market, then his time at Ibrox may well come to an end this season.
“Pedro Caixinha has brought in 11 new players and spent over £8million in transfer fees, so Rangers fans would be somewhat annoyed if they didn’t see some kind of improvement in their team,” said Commons. “Yet for all Caixinha’s big spend, the gulf in class between the two sides was there for all to see. He has brought in almost an entire team, yet they could not lay a glove on Brendan Rodgers’ side. There remains a lot of work to be done at Rangers and Caixinha has yet to prove he is the man for the job. The question is do the Rangers board have enough confidence to throw another cash lump sum at him?”
“He has been in post for six months and was trusted with a significant transfer budget, yet he has still to make an impact. Where is his ‘big result’? Where is that game which shows he is getting things right? It is clear that there remains a lot of work to be done and more quality invested in the Rangers team before they can even consider offering a challenge to Celtic. But if you look at the way some of his new signings performed on Saturday, you are entitled to ask whether that £8m has been money well spent. The gulf between the Glasgow rivals remains huge and Caixinha has shown no sign that he is the man to close it,” he added.
