Jamie Murphy had a hand in four goals as Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers scored five on Sunday.
Kris Commons has told Sky Sports that Jamie Murphy was Rangers’ “shining light” in the 5-3 win at Hamilton on Sunday.
Josh Windass scored a hat-trick and took the post-match plaudits to make it eight goals in five games for the playmaker.
But Murphy, a half-season loan signing from Premier League side Brighton, proved his class.
The 28-year-old scored Rangers’ first of the afternoon on 10 minutes to cancel out Darren Lyon’s earlier opener, before going on to directly set up three of the Gers’ next four goals.
It was the biggest indication that Graeme Murty pulled off a major coup by signing him on loan and Celtic legend Commons raved about him afterwards.
“I thought Murphy was the true shining light for Rangers,” Commons told Sky Sports.
“He got into excellent positions and created a lot of problems for the defenders with his use of the ball. He really stood out for me.”
Such a performance means that it’s really quite important that Murty can keep the Scottish winger beyond the expiration of his loan deal.
The former Motherwell star is clearly a classy talent and one who can really help Rangers achieve big things next season and beyond.
