Kris Commons has praised Celtic central midfielder Callum McGregor in The Daily Mail.

The former Celtic and Nottingham Forest attacking midfielder have been impressed with McGregor’s performances for the Hoops in the absence of Scott Brown due to injury.

Former Scotland international midfielder Brown is on the sidelines at the moment, but the 33-year-old has not been missed due to the performances of McGregor.

The Scotland international has been superb for the Hoops in recent games and has been a force to be reckoned with in the Celtic midfield.

Former Celtic star Commons has spoken highly of McGregor, and believe that the Scotland international is a complete midfielder.

Commons wrote about McGregor in The Daily Mail: “Celtic have discovered their best form in a period when Scott Brown hasn’t been in the team.

“It’s wide of the mark to suggest they are somehow better without their skipper. What his absence has done, though, is highlight just what an outstanding footballer Callum McGregor is.

“Operating in a deeper role, he has provided the ammunition for Celtic to start firing in recent weeks.”

The 35-year-old added: “He makes things tick. His best position is still in a more advanced role – and he can also play wide. In short, he’s the most complete midfielder Scotland have had in years.”

Kris Commons of Celtic celebrates after he scores during the UEFA Europa League match between Celtic FC and Fenerbahce SK at Celtic Park on October 01, 2015 in Glasgow, Scotland.
