Jordan Jones saw red mist during Rangers’ defeat to Celtic on Sunday afternoon.
Kris Commons has hit out at Jordan Jones for his reckless tackle on Moritz Bauer during the dying moments of Celtic’s 2-0 win over Rangers on Sunday.
Winger Jones was brought on as a second-half substitute as Rangers were trying to chase the game against their Old Firm rivals, but then in stoppage-time, Jonny Hayes made sure of the points by slotting home following a swift counter-attack.
Then not long after, Jones’ lunge on Bauer resulted in referee Bobby Maden being left with no choice but to show a straight red card to the Gers man.
Speaking to Sky Sports Football (01/09/2019 at 2:20 pm), Commons stated that Jones was a ‘silly boy’ for making his tackle, which could have been a ‘leg-breaker’.
“If he fouled me, I’d be embarrassed,” Commons told Sky Sports. “He’s let himself down and his manager. He’s come into this fixture, I don’t know wanting to prove a point about caring. Playing for the badge and how much it means.
“But that tackle there, that’s a leg-breaker. Without a shadow of a doubt, that’s leg-breaker. He [Jones himself] has taken one on the ankles there.
“He’s deliberately gone to hurt someone in the 95th minute, for what reason? Beyond me. Silly boy!”
There was no defending Jones’ tackle, who seemed to hobble off and seemingly injure himself during his tackle on Bauer, who only recently joined the club from Championship side Stoke City.
In the game itself, it was a clean performance from Nel Lennon’s men, who answered their critics by not only walking away from Ibrox with the three points but with a clean sheet also.
