Former Celtic attacking midfielder Kris Commons has given his take in The Daily Mail on Steven Gerrard’s Rangers getting too many red cards.

Rangers have finished with 10 men far too often than they should so far this season, both in the Scottish Premiership and in the Europa League.

The Gers won 2-1 against Heart of Midlothian away from home in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday afternoon.

Rangers, though, had Scott Arfield sent off, as the Ibrox club went to the top of the league table with the win.

Former Celtic attacking midfielder Commons believes that Rangers simply cannot carry on getting red cards as frequently as they are getting at the moment.

Commons wrote in The Daily Mail: “The seven red cards have come across six games (two came in the Europa League tie with Ufa). Yet, still, Steven Gerrard’s men refuse to accept defeat.

As incredible a stat as it is, there’s just no way it’s sustainable. If they keep having players sent off, there will come a time when it really costs them in a high-profile game.”

Problem for Rangers

That Rangers have won games despite playing a man short is a credit to them, and manager Gerrard must be praised for coming up with a plan when things do not go their way.

However, it is clear that Rangers have sort out their disciplinary issues in order to be successful this season.
