James Forrest and Tom Rogic are major players at Celtic these days.
Kris Commons has told BBC Scotland that Celtic duo James Forrest and Tom Rogic were not originally included in Ronny Deila’s training sessions when he took the reins in 2014.
The Celtic pair both played big roles in helping Brendan Rodgers’s side win a domestic treble last season without losing a game.
Rogic was 21 at the time of Deila’s appointment three years ago, while Forrest was 22.
The pair are important members of Celtic’s senior squad, especially the Australia international, but Commons reveals to BBC Scotland that neither were given a look-in when the Norwegian joined the Hoops.
“When he first came in, there was changes that were being made in a real positive way. The way that we were playing, the way he wanted to get the ball back as quickly as possible.
“There were results that didn’t go his way. There were a lot of players like James Forrest and Tom Rogic weren’t even in the squads or even on the bench, weren’t training with us.
“He was trying to change probably too much all in one go.”
Forrest went on to play 19 Premiership games in Deila’s first season, starting 12 of them, but Rogic didn’t play a minute.
The 24-year-old was, however, sidelined for much of the season with a groin problem, though he did make 27 league appearances in the following season.
