Kris Commons has claimed that everyone wants to be like Celtic captain Scott Brown, who has had a ‘phenomenal’ career at Parkhead.

Over the weekend, the 33-year-old guided his team to yet another Scottish Premiership title when they recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over Aberdeen.

Once again, Brown has played a key part in another successful season for Celtic, who will be chasing the treble-treble in a few weeks time.

Speaking to Sky Sports Football (04/05/2019 at 12:20 pm), Commons, who would have shared the same dressing room as Brown, spoke in awe of the player.

“I think when he is at the top of his game there is no-one like him,” Commons told Sky Sports. “He does all the naughty side of the game. In terms of, tackling, winning and winding players up. But amongst all, he’s a terrific player.

“He leads by example because he makes people around him better. You look at Stuart Armstrong or Callum McGregor. Those people in that midfield, I think single-handily from Scott Brown, he taught them the game, along with coaching from the likes of Brendan Rodgers.

“Scott Brown is a guy that you look up to. You want to emulate. You want to be like Scott Brown. You want to emulate what he has done in his career. What he’s done at Celtic is phenomenal. The standards he has set, not just from when he first walked through the door, but up until this present day has been remarkable.”

Scott Brown of Celtic talks with his teammates before the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Aberdeen and Celtic at Pittodrie Stadium on May 04, 2019 in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Despite sealing the title, there are still a number of big games coming up for the Bhoys, both in the Premiership and in the Scottish Cup.

On Sunday, they will make the short trip to Ibrox to take on their bitter rivals Rangers in what is the final Old Firm clash of the season.

And then, they will prepare for their Scottish Cup final showdown against Hearts where a win for Neil Lennon’s side will secure a historic treble-treble for the club.
