Kilmarnock and former Rangers striker Kris Boyd seems to rate Celtic and Scotland international goalkeeper Craig Gordon highly.
The 34-year-old Kilmarnock striker made the comment about the goalkeeper while outlining how tough it is for any player to earn 50 caps for the Scotland national football team.
Gordon, who has been on the books of Celtic since 2014, has made 51 appearances for Scotland so far in his career, having made his international debut back in 2004.
Boyd, who had two different spells at Ibrox club Rangers, scored seven goals in 18 matches for Scotland from 2006 until 2010.
The Kilmarnock striker has praised Gordon, and has suggested that it is not easy for players to earn 50 caps for Scotland.
“Other folk are saying a dazzling debut is proof that Ryan Christie will go on to win 50 caps,” Boyd wrote in The Scottish Sun. “I hope he does, but that’s a lot easier said than done.
“It’s taken Craig Gordon a decade to reach that landmark — and he’s outstanding.
“I’m not sure of the bookies’ odds on Christie winning 50 caps, but even if we were allowed to bet I’m not sure I’d stake too much on it.”
Gordon is prone to making mistakes, but there can be no denial that he is one of the best goalkeepers in the Scottish Premiership.
The fact that the former Sunderland and Heart of Midlothian custodian is also a regular for the Scotland national team shows just good he is.
