Kris Boyd doesn’t think Steven Gerrard will make a return to Glasgow Rangers after he was sacked by Aston Villa, as he told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (22/10/22 at 12:15 pm).
The Rangers legend added that Steven Gerrard has done his job at Ibrox by stopping Old Firm Celtic from winning 10IAR.
It has been a week to forget for Gerrard because his recent sacking at Villa can’t get any more ruthless than it was, both on and off the field of play.

Villa’s defeat to Fulham on Thursday night was met with constant chants of ‘We want Gerrard out’ or ‘Get out of our club’ and even songs relating to his infamous slip against Chelsea.
The legendary midfielder knew that the writing was on the wall when he got in at half-time, but before he could board the coach after the full-time whistle, he was sacked – it was branded a ‘joke’ by Manchester United legend, Gary Neville.
Nonetheless, when Boyd was asked about a potential return to Glasgow for Gerrard, he issued this pretty blunt response.
“No, I don’t think so,” said Boyd. “I think Steven has come up and done the job he needed to do in Scotland. He stopped Celtic from winning 10IAR. Moved on and it wasn’t meant to be at Aston Villa.
“Hopefully, you will see him back because he is an iconic figure of the game and you want to see him manage.”

OVER BEFORE IT COULD GET GOING
Gerrard’s sacking from Villa is going to take a lot to recover from and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he doesn’t manage again.
He won’t be going back to Scotland to manage the Gers, not any other team up north, and he will find it very hard to find another Premier League job, despite his big name.
Perhaps dropping down to the Championship or managing abroad could be the next move, but is he willing to drop down a league in order to pick himself up again?
Whatever happens, this is a knockout blow that he probably didn’t expect and will never recover from.
