Steven Gerrard and his Glasgow Rangers charges are in cup action this weekend, the Ibrox side hoping to reach the final.

Glasgow Rangers cult hero and Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd says he expects Steven Gerrard to name Steven Davis in his starting XI this weekend in place of Glen Kamara as the Ibrox side takes on Hearts in the Scottish League Cup semi-finals.
The Light Blues go into the cup fixture on the back of a resounding 4-0 win at Ross County in midweek, where Kamara lined up alongside Ryan Jack and Joe Aribo in midfield, with Davis an unused substitute for the Ibrox outfit.
However, Boyd expects the veteran to be reinstated in the squad for the last-four clash as he spoke of the difference between the current Rangers squad now – in particular the midfield – and the side which lost to Aberdeen in the semis last year.
“I think Rangers are in a far better place right now in terms of where they were this time last season and the semi-final loss to Aberdeen,” he told Sky Sports News. “They are interchanging with Scott Arfield, Joe Aribo and Sheyi Ojo, and Ryan Jack getting forward as well is a massive plus for Rangers.

“I would expect Glen Kamara to drop out at the weekend and Steven Davis to come back in so you could argue Rangers are stronger and if they can get anywhere close to the performance that they produced in the highlands on Wednesday then, for me, they should take part in the League Cup final.”
Rangers claimed a 1-1 draw at Hearts in the Scottish Premiership back in October and are on a five-game unbeaten run heading into Sunday’s fixture, that draw extending the Light Blues’ unbeaten run against Hearts to 10 games, and Tynecastle side has not beaten the Ibrox outfit since February 2017 (Radio Times).
