Kris Boyd was raging at the ‘disgraceful’ actions by Alfredo Morelos during Rangers’ 2-1 defeat to Celtic on Sunday afternoon at Parkhead.

The Old Firm served up one of the most feisty and hotly-contested derbies in many a year, with the majority of the incidents occurring in the second half.

After Odsonne Edouard stroked home the opener after 27 minutes, striker Morelos, in an off-the-ball incident, elbowed Celtic captain, Scott Brown, with referee Bobby Madden left with no choice but to send him off – it was the fifth time he has seen red this season.

Speaking to Sky Sports Football (31/03/2019 at 1:00 pm), Boyd was in a full-blown rage when sharing his thoughts on Morelos as he also hit out at the fans by claiming he has become ‘sick and tired’ of their thoughts on the striker.

“It’s a straight red, there is no defending him,” Boyd told Sky Sports Football. “It’s incredible that someone, who has performed, and I said before the start of the match, arguably the player of the season can be sent off five times. For stupid things as well that he doesn’t need to get involved in. To raise your arm like that!

“I’m sick and fed up of listening to Rangers fans saying ‘they’re always winding him up’. That’s why they do it! It’s a disgrace. That a professional football player acts like that. Has a go, kicks out, lashes out and throws arms about at this level is a disgrace.”

From players going off injured, to more off-the-ball incidents occurring in the second half, in the end, both teams were playing with the same amount of players.

But before that, it didn’t stop Ryan Kent from scoring a stunning equaliser in what was Steven Gerrard’s side first shot on target.

Thereafter, Dedryck Boyata was forced off injured with Neil Lennon making all three of his substitutions, but the home team marched on to secure all three points when James Forrest hit the winner three minutes from time.
