Former Glasgow Rangers striker Kris Boyd does not seem to be a fan of the Ibrox club’s director of football Mark Allen.
As reported by BBC Sport, Rangers defender Bates has agreed a four-year contract with Hamburg and will join the German club in the summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old centre-back will move to Hamburg on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Former Rangers striker Boyd, who had two separate spells at Ibrox, has suggested that Allen is to be blamed for the impending exit of Bates.
The 34-year-old Scottish striker has also asked questions of what Allen actually does for Rangers.
Boyd wrote in The Scottish Sun: “Then there’s Mark Allen, the so-called director of football.
“I’m sorry, but what does he actually bring to the table? What does he actually do to earn his big-money salary?
“He’s meant to be building things for the future, so why did he allow an up-and-coming player like David Bates to sign for another club?”
Bad decision?
Bates is a very talented and promising young defender, and the 21-year-old has been playing well for Rangers this season.
It does not look great for the Glasgow giants that the youngster will leave for another club at the end of the season.
Rangers, though, need to move on, and perhaps the Glasgow giants should already start looking for a replacement.
