Rangers and Celtic will meet for the first Old Firm encounter of the new season on Sunday.

Kris Boyd has questioned Celtic’s defence ahead of their Sunday afternoon showdown with Rangers and stated that their backline is ‘a bit of a worry’.
The Old Firm duo will meet for the first time this season at Ibrox, with maximum points recorded by Neil Lennon and Steven Gerrard’s side heading into the weekend clash.
But before then, the duo have European matters to deal with – Celtic travel to Sweeden on Thursday evening, whilst Rangers host Legia Warsaw. Both are trying to qualify for the Europa League.
Speaking to Sky Sports News (26/08/2019 at 12:40 pm), Boyd believes Celtic are a threat in the final third, but he questioned them from a defensive standpoint.
“They have a trip away on Thursday night,” Boyd told Sky Sports Football. “That’ll be Neil Lennon’s main focus right now to make sure they get through that then his attention will turn to Sunday.
“Celtic have been scoring goals there’s no doubt about that. Again defensively you would question. There’s a bit of a worry there. But they have been linked with Greg Taylor, so I think Neil Lennon does still want reinforcements in. You can understand why.”

Celtic and Rangers’ European fixtures on Thursday will play a huge part in how fresh the players are for Sunday’s clash.
This will be the final game before the international break, and a win for either team, will provide a huge boost for the team that comes out on top.
A fast-paced and feisty fixture is expected and given what has happened in previous games then it won’t be a surprise if there are some sending offs.
