Glasgow Rangers brought Bruno Alves to Ibrox in the summer of 2017, and the defender has been linked with a January move away from the Gers.
Alves joined Rangers in the summer of 2017 when Pedro Caixinha was in charge of the Gers after leaving Italian club Cagliari at the end of the 2016-17 season.
Much was expected of the Portugal international central defender when he arrived at Ibrox in the summer of 2017, but the 36-year-old has failed to make a huge impact at the Gers.
There have been injury concerns over the former FC Porto and Zenit Saint Petersburg, and the performances of the 36-year-old have been mixed.
According to a recent report in The Scottish Sun, Alves is attracting international from clubs in his native Portugal.
Kilmarnock striker Boyd, who had two separate spells at Rangers, has predicted that Alves will leave the Gers in the January transfer window.
The 34-year-old Scottish striker has also stated that it is remarkable that Alves will play for Portugal at the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia in the summer of 2018 despite his disappointing form for Rangers.
Boyd wrote about Alves in The Scottish Sun: “He just hasn’t stepped up when his team-mates have needed him most.
“It’s remarkable to think there’s every chance he’ll be at the World Cup this summer. Yet, if that’s to happen, it won’t be through his performances for Rangers.
“That’s why I don’t think he will return to Scotland — I think it’s certain he’ll find a new club in his native Portugal.”
Rangers are on the verge of signing Jamie Murphy from Brighton and Hove Albion, according to The Daily Record, and former Brighton and Celtic man Adam Virgo has backed the 28-year-old winger to be a success at Ibrox.
Virgo told The Daily Record: “The lack of game time, this season in particular, doesn’t reflect on the quality of player Rangers are getting.
“If he’d been signed at the end of the Championship season they’d be getting a player who featured regularly at a decent level.
“If you put him in the pecking order this season then he was always going to be behind Anthony, Solly and Jose.
“In terms of playing in Scotland with Rangers he has all the credentials to be a very good player.”
