Mark Warburton’s Glasgow Rangers lost against Old Firm rivals Celtic at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership at the weekend.
Kris Boyd has written in The Scottish Sun that Rangers need to spend as much as £30 million in order to catch Old Firm rivals Celtic.
The former Rangers striker made the comments following the Gers’ defeat to Celtic at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership at the weekend.
The Scotland international went down 2-1 to the Bhoys at home on Saturday afternoon.
Kenny Miller put Mark Warburton’s side in the lead after just 12 minutes, but goals from Moussa Dembele and Sinclair saw the Bhoys stage a successful comeback.
Former Rangers striker Boyd believes that the Ibrox outfit need to spend a lot of money in order to compete with Celtic.

“If Rangers are serious about winning titles and competing in Europe again, the standard of buys must be lifted on a major scale,” Boyd wrote in The Scottish Sun. “If you ask me, it will take a spending spree of around £30million to catch Celtic.”

Celtic have virtually wrapped up the Scottish Premiership title this season, with Rangers battling for the runners-up spot.
The Bhoys have the strongest squad in Scotland at the moment, and it is hard to see any team catching them next season.
Rangers got promoted from the Scottish Championship at the end of last season, and a second-placed finish this campaign should be deemed as a success.
