Could the Celtic midfielder cut it at one of the Premier League’s best teams? Kris Boyd reckons so.

Kris Boyd has claimed to The Scottish Sun that Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic is ‘easily’ good enough to join Liverpool or Manchester City.

Rogic has been one of the best players in the Scottish Premiership in recent years, helping Celtic to back-to-back domestic trebles.

The Australia international has been linked with moves to the Premier League in the past, but drew a line under the speculation regarding his future by signing a five-year extension at Parkhead last May.

More importantly, the 26-year-old has established himself as the Hoops’ go-to-guy for the big occasion, netting four goals against bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers last season.

And Kilmarnock striker Boyd reckons that big midfielder not only has the goods to make it down South, but suggests he’s good enough to play for some of England’s finest.

He told The Scottish Sun: “Could he play in the English Premier League?

“I think he could easily go to teams like Manchester City or Liverpool, although that’s not going to happen.”

If any Celtic player does have what it takes to become successful in England, following in the footsteps of Victor Wanyama and Virgil van Dijk, then it probably is Rogic.

That isn’t to say that the Bhoys don’t have one good player, because James Forrest and Callum McGregor are simply class, but Rogic might have the best Premier League pedigree of any player that Brendan Rodgers has.
