Kris Boyd has let rip at Celtic captain Scott Brown for celebrating in front of the Rangers fans after his side beat their rivals 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Parkhead.

In what was one of the most entertaining and drama-filled Old Firm derbies in years, after the final whistle Brown was confromoted by Andy Halliday for his actions which caused a further melee in a game that was already lit with controversies.

Odsonne Edouard opened the scoring in the first half, but four minutes later Gers striker Alfredo Morelos saw red for elbowing Brown. The away team equalised through Ryan Kent after the break before James Forrest netted the winner three minutes from time.

Speaking to Sky Sports Football after the match (31/03/2019 2:30 pm), Kilmarnock forward Boyd wasn’t too pleased with the manner in which Brown decided to celebrate.

“You see after the game, Celtic are quick to go down to the Green Brigade and in front of all them [to celebrate], so why does he need to go in front of the Rangers fans?” Boyd questioned on Sky Sports Football. “Go and enjoy it with your own fans.

“For me, there is no need for it. I don’t think you need to get involved. Scott Brown has done his work on the pitch. He had another good game for Celtic. You don’t need to in front of the Rangers fans and jump about. You actually went out of your way. If there was a throw-in in that corner when the game finished then fine. But you’re actually down there in front of them, went there to wind them up. Go and celebrate with your own fans!”

After the final whistle, Halliday was sent off by referee Bobby Madden, who had to deal with a serious of incidents, including Ryan Kent lashing out at Brown moments after Celtic’s winner.

The duo are set to meet again before the season draws to a close, this time at Ibrox in what will no doubt be another highly-charged encounter.

It is just a matter of time before Celtic secure their eighth Scottish Premiership title in a row because at this moment in time they are 13 points clear at the top of the table.

Added with that, Neil Lennon, who returned to the club in February, is still unbeaten and is still on course to win the treble-treble at the end of the campaign.
