Celtic are on the verge of securing their eighth Scottish Premiership title in a row.
Kris Boyd has warned the Celtic board that time is starting to ‘eat away’ regarding their decision to appoint a permanent manager at Parkhead.
Neil Lennon is currently in temporary charge at the club after he replaced Brendan Rodgers after the turn of the year.
Speaking to Sky Sports Football (21/04/2019 at 3:15 pm), Premiership striker Boyd spoke about Celtic’s current managerial situation.
“Yes, I do [think Celtic are seeking another person than Lennon] because the more it goes on and on and on, the less likely Neil is going to get the job,” Boyd told Sky Sports Football. “Time is starting to eat away.
“The big thing here for me is that Celtic have got an opportunity with the finances they have got to go and get players in and speak to players early. The longer it goes on it then goes back into the hands of the teams that Celtic might be looking to buy players off.
“I think there are a lot of people upstairs at Celtic that really need to come out and say ‘If it’s not Neil then we are looking for this one or we are looking for that one'”.
When Lennon returned to Celtic, his job was to maintain the clubs status in the Scottish Premiership and then guide them to a Scottish Cup final win.
It is a matter of time before they wrap up eight-in-a-row, but the manner of performances haven’t been too eye-catching.
Nonetheless, the biggest game of the season for Celtic will be there Scottish Cup final clash against Hearts where they will be looking to secure a historic treble-treble.
