Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers need two or three signings to challenge Celtic, says former Ibrox striker Kris Boyd.

Celtic have won the Scottish Premiership title this season, while Rangers have secured the runners-up spot in the standings.
The Hoops have won the league title in Scotland eight years in a row now, and the Glasgow giants will be aiming to make it nine next season.
Former Rangers striker Boyd, now on the books of Kilmarnock, believes that recruitment will be key for the Gers, and has suggested that they need two or three signings this summer in order to mount a serious title challenge.
Boyd wrote in The Scottish Sun about Rangers: “If they are to stop Celtic from winning nine in a row then recruitment will be key. I don’t envisage a massive overhaul in the summer, with the midfield looking very settled of late.”
Boyd added: “Rangers have strength in depth in that area and I don’t think major surgery is required this summer. Gerrard needs to add quality, that much is obvious. But two or three signings and I think they will mount a serious challenge next season.”

Signings needed
Rangers have already secured the services of wingers Jake Hastie and Jordan Jones on pre-contract agreements, and they will add depth to Steven Gerrard’s team.
However, the Gers could do with another central defender and perhaps even a left-back who is better than what they have got at the moment.
Perhaps worrying for Rangers, Celtic are bound to make signings as well in the summer transfer window.
