Kilmarnock striker Kris Boyd has written in The Scottish Sun that Celtic’s main weakness in their defence.

Boyd made the observation about Celtic ahead of their Scottish Cup semi-final tie against Rangers at Hampden Park in Glasgow on Sunday afternoon.

The former Rangers striker believes that Pedro Caixinha’s side could win against their Old Firm rivals and progress to the final of the prestigious cup competition.

“Rangers need to stay tight as a unit all over the pitch, making it feel as small as possible for the Celtic players, not giving them any space to play between the lines,” Boyd wrote in The Scottish Sun.

“If they do that they can turn it into a scrap they’re capable of winning. The weakest part of the Celtic team is their defence. It’s actually the same for a lot of European teams at the moment, with the exception of Juventus.”

“It may sound like a cheek coming from me, given I haven’t scored against Celtic this season, but I think they can be got at,” added Boyd.

Celtic have the best squad in Scotland and have the most formidable strike-force in the Scottish Premiership.

The Bhoys are defensively strong as well. In 33 league matches so far this season, Brendan Rodgers’s side have conceded only 22 goals.

Rangers are in good form at the moment, and they will certainly fancy their chances of winning against Celtic.

However, for the Gers to win the tie, the players have to be on to of their game and have to keep it tight at the back.

Celtic will head into the tie as favourites, but one should not be surprised if Rangers register a narrow 1-0 win.
