Speaking to Sky Sports, Kris Boyd has praised Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham and believes that he deserves a lot of credit for this afternoon’s drubbing of Rangers.

Celtic smashed their Old Firm rivals 5-0 at Parkhead to clinch a seventh successive Premiership title.

A brace from Odsonne Edouard and another from James Forrest had Brendan Rodgers’s side leading 3-0 at the break, before Tom Rogic and Callum McGregor finished the match as a contest by 53 minutes.

The Hoops’ attacking quantities are bound to get most of the credit for the win, but former Rangers star Boyd feels that Ntcham – a £4.5 million signing last summer [BBC Sport] – deserves a lot of praise too.

“Yes the attacking players have had the credit but Olivier Ntcham does as well since he’s come out of his shell,” he told Sky Sports.

“He’s been, for me, yes Scott Brown gets a lot of plaudits in the middle of the pitch for what he does for the team, but Olivier Ntcham connects it going forward.

“He is the modern-day football player in that he keeps the ball, but he keeps the ball by passing forward. He’s aggressive, gets Celtic into the final third and he creates opportunities.”

On an individual level, it has been a wonderful first season in Glasgow for Ntcham. He commanded quite a sizeable fee when joining from Manchester City, but he looks to be worth every penny and another season like this one will surely add to his value.
