Boyd, who had two separate spells at Rangers and is now on the books of Kilmarnock, has given his take on the former Liverpool manager attending the match between City and Huddersfield.
“Why was Rodgers pictured at the Manchester City game last weekend?” Boyd wrote in The Scottish Sun. “Initially, I thought it was because he was holding signing talks with Jason Denayer. The Belgian defender, however, has sealed a move to Lyon ruling out that possible theory.
“I can’t fathom the use of another kid from the City academy coming in on loan, not when guys like Scott Allan and Ryan Christie can’t get a game for them.”
“I wonder if his timely appearance at the Etihad was Brendan reminding everyone down south that he’s still here,” added Boyd.

Challenging season ahead for Celtic
Rodgers has done a great job at Celtic, although this season could be the former Liverpool manager’s toughest yet at the Hoops.
The Glasgow giants have already been knocked out of the Champions League qualifiers, and bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers are mounting a challenge for the Scottish Premiership title.
The former Liverpool and Swansea City manager, though, will hatch a plan to overcome all the hurdles in his way to winning the domestic treble for the third season in a row.
