West Bromwich Albion loanee Oliver Burke has struggled in his loan spell at Celtic.

Kris Boyd has shared that Oliver Burke’s style of play was seemingly being criticised off camera during Celtic’s 2-0 defeat to Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon.
The Sky Sports pundit believes that Burke doesn’t look to ‘link any of the play’ and instead is running in behind the opposition backline which wasn’t helping his cause or Celtic’s cause, at the time.
In the end, the West Bromwich Albion loanee, who played the full 90 minutes, struggled to prove his worth at Ibrox and even missed a guilt-edge opportunity in the first half.
Speaking to Sky Sports Football during the game (12/05/2019), Boyd shared what was said about Burke and what the versatile attacker was doing wrong on the day.
“For me, Oliver Burke has been non-existent,” Boyd told Sky Sports. “He has got to be coming to feet to take that ball in. The way Celtic have been playing in recent years is they get it into the striker and they get runners beyond that.
“Oliver Burke’s looking to run in behind. We spoke about it off camera. He just needs grass in behind, he doesn’t look to link any of the play, at all.”

Throughout the game, Neil Lennon’s side struggled to stamp their authority on the match as Rangers pressed them into constant mistakes.
Former Championship attacker Burke, who is a natural winger, has struggled during his time at Parkhead, but playing a forward role has not helped his cause.
Burke’s current loan deal will run out in the summer and it remains to be seen if he makes a return to the Scottish Premiership champions next season.
But given the fact that he hasn’t made his mark on a team that could win the treble-treble, it won’t be a surprise if Celtic opt against re-signing him.
