Kris Boyd comments on Rangers-owned Ryan Hardie

Ryan Hardie is out on loan from Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers.

Former Ibrox striker Kris Boyd suggested on the SPFL Matters show on Sky Sports Football last Friday evening (6pm, April 5, 2019) that Rangers should let Ryan Hardie leave in the summer transfer window if manager Steven Gerrard does not include him in the starting lineup next seson.

Hardie has been on the books of Rangers his entire professional club football so far and is currently on loan at Scottish Premiership rivals Livingstone.

The Scottish youngster has made 10 starts and six substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Gary Holt’s side so far this season, scoring seven goals in the process, according to WhoScored.

The 22-year-old has had injury issues this campaign, but when the striker has played, he has been superb.

As announced on Rangers’ official website in January 2019, the youngster signed a new contract with the Gers and will stay at Ibrox until the summer of 2020.

Former Rangers striker Boyd, now at Scottish Premiership rivals Kilmarnock, has suggested that if Ibrox manager Gerrard does not plan to include Hardie in the first team next season, then the Glasgow giants should sell him.

Boyd said about Hardie on the SPFL Matters show on Sky Sports Football last Friday evening (6pm, April 5, 2019): “If Rangers are not going to give him an opportunity in the first team, then let him go because once again, I think it is a trend in Scottish football, that we keep protecting players, we keep saving up in terms of hope that’s going to happen. Be respectful to the kid and let him go and play football.”
