Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers midfielder Scott Arfield is reportedly wanted by Southampton and Crystal Palace.
Scott Arfield of Rangers
According to The Scottish Sun, Premier League duo Palace and Southampton are interested in signing Arfield from Rangers in the summer transfer window.
The report has claimed that the Eagles and the Saints are battling each other for the £3 million signing of 30-year-old Rangers midfielder.
Kilmarnock striker Boyd, who had two different spells at Rangers, has spoken highly of Arfield, and he believes that Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club will not sell the Canada international this summer.
Boyd wrote about Arfield in The Scottish Sun: “I noticed Crystal Palace are considering a move for him in the summer and I’m not surprised. He was named Player of the Month for April and rightly so. But I bet he points to the freedom he’s had in the team with Davo tucked in behind him.
“That protection allows him to concentrate on what he’s good at, getting into the box with late runs beyond the striker. Alfredo Morelos likes running into the same space so that restricts Arfield’s movement.
“Jermain Defoe is different and the intelligent way he plays suits him better. That ability is always going to attract other clubs.
“Rangers obviously won’t want to lose him, though, so I’d be surprised if they entertain any offers for him any time soon.”

Rangers stay
Arfield has been one of the most consistent players for Rangers this season and has established himself as an important player in Gerrard’s team.
The midfielder himself has told Rangers’ official website that he is happy at the Scottish Premiership club, and it does seem unlikely that the Gers will sell him this summer, even for £3m.
Arfield has made 26 starts and one substitute appearance in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers this season, scoring 10 goals in the process, according to WhoScored.
