Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic signed Youssouf Mulumbu in the summer transfer window on a free.

Mulumbu joined Celtic on transfer deadline day and moved to the Hoops as a free agent.
The 31-year-old former West Bromwich Albion and Norwich City left Kilmarnock at the end of last season.
Kilmarnock striker Boyd, who had two different spells at Rangers, does not think that the DR Congo international was a top transfer target for Celtic manager Rodgers this summer.
Former Celtic right-back Mark Wilson has also given his take on the Glasgow giants’ decision to sign Mulumbu on a free transfer on deadline day.

Boyd wrote in The Scottish Sun: “Youssouf Mulumbu is a decent player who was good for me at Kilmarnock last season. But you can’t tell me he’s been one of Rodgers’ targets from day one.
“Mulumbu has been lying on his couch for the last three months doing nothing. What were Celtic waiting on? That’s the kind of deal that should have been completed a long time ago.”
The Scottish Sun quotes Wilson as saying: “I think he was a good player at Kilmarnock, I think he’s had a decent career down south.
“A 31-year-old coming into Celtic who’s just left Kilmarnock as a free agent? Not for me I’m afraid.”
Good signing for Celtic?
Given that Mulumbu was a free agent since the end of last season, Celtic could have probably signed the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder sooner.
There is no doubt, though, that the 31-year-old is a good player who has been a success in the Scottish Premiership, and the former West Brom man is going to make Celtic stronger in midfield.
