Celtic’s Kieran Tierney and Liverpool’s Andy Robertson are both teammates for Scotland.
Kris Boyd has suggested that Kieran Tierney’s head ‘could be turned’ at Celtic amid rumours about his future as he made a stunning claim that the defender will be ‘annoyed’ by Andy Robertson’s recent success at Liverpool.
The Express recently claimed that Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers is eyeing a potential reunion with left-back Tierney this summer, who he is a big admirer of having worked with him at Parkhead for a number of seasons.
Left-back Tierney plays alongside Liverpool’s Robertson for Scotland, with the former Hull City player recently lifting the Champions League trophy in Madrid.
Scottish Premiership striker Boyd suggested that Tierney could leave Celtic this summer and that Robertson’s success at Liverpool may end up playing a part in that.
“I think this is a massive, massive summer for Kieran Tierney,” Boyd told Sky Sports. “If a bid does come in, then maybe now his head could be turned to move on. When you get the opportunity to move to some of the clubs Kieran Tierney has been linked with, it doesn’t come along very often and it might just be the right time [to move].
“You see them in the Scotland squad together, Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney, and they are the two that are always compared to each other. He has seen Roberton lift the Champions League, that’ll annoy him, he’ll be pleased, but it’ll annoy him. I wouldn’t be surprised this summer if Kieran Tierney goes also.”
Tierney has been a key player for Celtic for a number of seasons now and it isn’t a surprise to see others clubs potentially gunning for his signature.
It remains to be seen if he is at Parkhead for the new Scottish Premiership campaign, but given his importance to the team, Neil Lennon will be eager to keep hold of him.
