Rangers have won four games on the bounce in the Scottish Premiership.

James Tavernier of Rangers arrives at the stadium prior to the Scottish Ladbrokes Premiership match between Motherwell and Rangers at Fir Park on April 07, 2019 in Motherwell, Scotland.

Kris Boyd has admitted that it would be a ‘dream’ to play with Rangers defender James Tavernier following his two goals over the weekend.

The 27-year-old helped Steven Gerrard’s side record a comfortable 2-0 win over Derek McIness’ side at Ibrox.

After the game, Speaking to Sky Sports Football (28/04/2019 at 5:10 pm), Boyd explained why it would be a ‘dream’ to play with someone like Tavernier.

“He’s the modern day full back,” Boyd told Sky Sports Football. “Defensively there are questions asked of him when Rangers get beat and maybe rightly so in terms of a lot of the goals Rangers do concede are down that right-hand side.

“Once he gets into the final third, his style of crossing and he can vary it up. And for strikers, he’s a dream to play with because as soon as it goes wide you know it’s coming in the box.”

From an attacking point of view, Tavernier is your typical modern day full-back on that right-hand side as he is constantly trying to be a threat for his team.

Added with that, the Bradford-born player is a specialist penalty taker as was proven during his two spot-kick goals against the Dons on Sunday.

Since the Gers were beaten by Old Firm rivals Celtic last month, they have gone on to win every game in the Premiership.

Both teams are set to meet again next month, this time at Ibrox, and as things stand, Celtic could potentially win the title in their rivals’ backyard.
