Brendan Rodgers should be considering a number of new contracts at Celtic between now and the end of the season before the summer transfer window begins on July 1.

A whole host of Hoops players are set to enter their final year at Celtic Park at the end of the season, including the likes of captain Scott Brown, in-form winger James Forrest and playmaker Tom Rogic.

But surely midfielder Kouassi Eboue deserves a new deal after finally breaking into the Hoops side, a year on from his £3million move from Russian outfit Krasnodar.

The tough-tackling Ivorian signed a four-and-a-half-year deal in January 2017, with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2021. Although his future is not in doubt at Celtic, he deserves the kind of pay cheque that reflects his value.

The Daily Star claim Eboue is earning just £1,200 a week, despite playing alongside the likes of Brown who earns £25,000 a week with the Scottish champions.

The 20-year-old has started three of Celtic’s last four Scottish Premiership matches, and is now considered a key member of the Hoops midfield along with Olivier Ntcham, Stuart Armstrong, Callum McGregor and Brown.

He is finally proving his transfer fee in green and white, and if Rodgers wants to keep the midfielder happy, he must increase his wage to reflect his performances.
