Nottingham Forest’s Arijanet Muric is set to start for Kosovo tonight.
Kosovo boss Bernard Challandes has told the Daily Mail that he thinks Arijanet Muric ‘is not perfect’ but threw his suppot behind the Nottingham Forest loanee.
Kosovo beat the Czech Republic 2-1 on Saturday afternoon, meaning they have now gone 15 games unbeaten in a stunning run of form.
Kosovo were only recognised by UEFA in 2016, so their rise has been remarkable, and they face a huge challenge this evening.
Challandes takes his side to Wembley Stadium to take on England, knowing that their incredible unbeaten run is probably about to end.
However, he will be looking to call on players who have experience in English football. Bersant Celina has featured for Manchester City, Ipswich Town and Swansea City, whilst Sheffield Wednesday’s Atdhe Nuhiu is likely to be on the bench.
Starting in goal will be Muric, who is on the books at Manchester City but currently spending the season out on loan at Nottingham Forest to pick up first-team experience.
Unfortunately for the 20-year-old, he has already lost his first-team spot to Brice Samba, having come under fire for a number of mistakes in pre-season and the early stages of the Championship campaign.
Now, Kosovo boss Challandes has admitted that Muric can ‘put you in danger’, but he likes goalkeepers who takes risks, backing Muric as a ‘very modern goalkeeper’ – and he’ll need to be at his best to keep England at bay.
“I like goalkeepers who take risks,” said Challandes. “He is not perfect and he can put you in danger but three or four other times he came for the ball and collected it. That is very important for us against tall players. He is a very modern goalkeeper,” he added.
