Burnley have made a better offer than Besiktas for Amir Hadziahmetovic as Vincent Kompany’s Championship leaders look to secure the services of the Bosnia and Herzegovina international, Konyaspor CEO Mustafa Goksu tells Ajansspor.
The fates of Burnley and Besiktas have been somewhat intertwined over the last eight months or so. Wout Weghorst, last week, found himself at the heart of a rather strange tug-of-war; Besiktas holding one end of the rope, the Clarets on the other, and Manchester United awaiting the winner.
During the summer of 2022, the Turkish Super Lig giants also snapped up Congolese striker Jackson Muleka after negotiations with Burnley collapsed.

Now, with around a fortnight remaining before the February deadline, welcome to another chapter in this odd old rivalry. Besiktas and Burnley are going head to head once again; 25-year-old Konyaspor midfielder Hadziahmetovic on the radar of both clubs.
And, as it stands, Burnley appear to be leading on points, boxing Besiktas into the corner and winding up for a knockout blow.
Burnley are hoping to sign Konyaspor midfielder Amir Hadziahmetovic
“The numbers (from Besiktas) were not at the level we would accept. There is another offer from England. A more satisfactory offer,” says Goksu, Konyaspor’s CEO.
The Anatolian Eagle’s still hope to retain Hadziahmetovic’s services beyond the January window, however, with Konyaspor battling for a European spot. But money talks, as they say. What’s more, Hadziahmetovic will almost certainly be tempted by the prospect of joining a Burnley side likely to be back in the Premier League next term.
“We do not want Amir to leave,” Goksu adds. “If an agreement is made to sell, (we will need) a replacement.”
While a deep-lying midfielder by trade, Hadziahmetovic is averaging a goal or an assist almost every other game this season. In 23 matches, the Denmark-born ace has scored six times and set up a further four.
An excellent technician with a burst of pace, Hadziahmetovic loves to dictate the game from something of a quarter-back role. He can take a mean free-kick too.
According to Hurriyet, runaway Championship leaders Burnley are offering £3.5 million up front, plus bonuses. Besiktas’ offer, meanwhile, stands at around £2.5 million.
Burnley have already signed Ameen Al-Dakhil from Sint-Triuden this month. Work permit concerns, however, could scupper their hopes of landing Sweden international Hjalmar Ekdal.
“It is true that we have not found an agreement (for Ekdal),” explains Djurgardens sporting director. “We are positive about continuing to hold discussions with Burnley about a transfer. I have good knowledge of the reason why (negotiations) stopped.
“We have had contact and discussions with Burnley.”
