Celtic’s Kolo Toure in action
Celtic defender Kolo Toure says that Arsenal are a great club and that he has high respect for Arsene Wenger.
The 36-year-old defender, who has been involved in bit-part roles for Celtic this season, says that Wenger is one of the best managers he has ever worked with.
Celtic are unbeaten in domestic football this season, and Toure is no stranger to being in an invincible team, having won the Premier League with Wenger’s ‘invincible’ Arsenal side in 2003/04.
Toure adds that Wenger has been ‘amazing’ in his ability to nurture young talents, and has brought ‘massive’ changes to the club, especially in the way the Gunners play.
“For me Arsenal is a great club and the manager for me is one of the best managers I have worked with,” he said, as quoted by SkySports.com.
“He can see talent, he can see a future in young talent and I think that is amazing. Of course at the moment things are not going the right way because of the things he has won. Wenger has been massive for Arsenal and will fight until the end.
“He will be remembered as one of the best managers in Arsenal, if not the best manager,” he added.
“When he came, Arsenal started to put United under pressure and everybody knew that. He has been amazing, he has been massive in all the changes in Arsenal, the way Arsenal play football is amazing.
“I feel really sorry for Mr Wenger at the moment.”
The Celtic defender, however, is aware that Arsenal have not had a great season, and could drop out of the top four. The loyal Arsenal fans have gone impatient with how things have unfolded this season, with a section of supporters demanding resignation from the Frenchman.
Meanwhile, Toure is currently in talks about extending his current Celtic contract which runs out in the summer. The former Liverpool defender says that he is not considering retiring from football at the moment.
