The Ivorian hailed his 19-year-old Celtic team-mate.
Kolo Toure has revealed via The Glasgow Evening Times that he has taken young Celtic team-mate Kieran Tierney under his wing.
The 19-year-old has emerged as one of Scottish football’s gems over the past eight months or so after breaking into the Celtic side under Ronny Deila in December.
The left-back helped the Hoops to a fifth straight Premiership crown last term and was subsequently named Scotland’s Young Player of the Year.
Tierney is just beginning his career, but one man in the twilight of his is Toure, who joined Celtic after a hugely-successful spell down South with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool.
The 35-year-old centre-half arrived in Glasgow with two Premier League titles and three FA Cups under his belt, and the Ivorian defender tells the GET that he hopes to help Tierney fulfill his “great talent”.
“For me I want to help KT, to guide him, which is very important to me. There are some really good young players here, they have great talent and I want to help them.
“KT is a top young player. He has great talent and is working hard. He has a very good mentality and I enjoy playing with him.”
Toure also has vast Champions League experience, reaching the final with Arsenal in 2006, and Tierney will get his first taste of Europe’s elite competition this season.
