Kolo Toure had admitted that it was a ‘big surprise’ to him that 2021 Leeds United target, Maxwel Cornet, moved to Burnley last summer.

The Leicester City coach has stated that Cornet has been ‘unbelievable’ at Turf Moor this season, as he told Sky Sports Football.

Despite playing for a defensive and relegation-threatened Burnley side, Cornet has scored six Premier League goals from 17 matches.

In the summer, Leeds were trying to lure the Ivory Coast star towards their direction, but instead, he made a move to Burnley.

Toure bigged up his fellow countryman and the impact he has made since stepping foot into the Premier League.

“He has been terrific,” said Toure. “Unbelievable. I saw him, he scored a great goal against us (Leicester City).

“Technically, he is a very good player. Seeing him go to Burnley was a big surprise for me.

“But he has done unbelievable there because he shows some great, great quality and scoring goals.”

Given the impact someone like Raphinha has had on this Leeds side, you just feel Cornet would have ripped it up just as much.

The style of play under Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds compared to what Sean Dyche produces is chalk and cheese.

Cornet would have fitted in like a glove under Bielsa and it’s perhaps one of the mistakes the club made in not bulking up their options.

Perhaps, Bielsa would still be in charge because, whilst no one could have envisaged their injuries, everyone knew that this already-thin squad needed bulking up.
