The Everton midfielder’s future has been the subject of intense speculation this season.

Toffees boss Ronald Koeman sat down for an interview with Sky Sports‘ Good Morning Sports Fans (broadcast at 9:13 am on February 28th), and discussed the future of Ross Barkley, insisting that he is a big fan of the 23-year-old midfielder.
The England international endured heavy criticism earlier on in the season, but has responded well by returning to somewhere near his best form, helping his Everton team rise to seventh position in the table, just six points adrift of fourth placed Arsenal.
And Koeman explained how much Barkley still has to offer at Goodison Park, when speaking to Sky Sports, highlighting how well he has responded to his critics this season:
“Of course we would like to keep Ross, because he is that type of player that you need in your team to create chances and score goals. Sometimes you have fights with players because you like to see more productivity. Sometimes it’s difficult for players to accept critics, but sometimes that brings the best out in the player. I have had a lot of communication with Ross and he is really a good guy, he likes to improve and wants to stay at Everton.”

The Blues midfielder has scored four goals and chipped in with five assists in 24 Premier League appearances for his club so far this season.
The problem for Barkley is that he is so talented that fans and pundits expect him to be even more productive than he has been this term.
And if he is to be regarded as one of the league’s best, he will undoubtedly have to improve further still in every aspect of his game.
