Toffees boss Ronald Koeman spoke to reporters during his pre-match press conference, and drew comparisons between Romleu Lukaku and Harry Kane, highlighting two areas in particular where he believes the Belgian has the edge over the England international hitman, as quoted by the Evening Standard.
Both players have scored 17 Premier League goals for their clubs this season, but the Spurs man missed around six weeks earlier on in the campaign due to a serious ankle injury.
Everton and Tottenham are due to meet this afternoon, and the eagerly anticipated clash will be so important for both sides’ aspirations this season.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men will be desperate to keep the pressure on league leaders Chelsea, whilst the Blues are pushing for a place inside the top four, and a win for Koeman’s men could take them to within just five points of Liverpool and Manchester City.
Everton’s Romelu Lukaku in action
The Dutchman sat down to speak with the media ahead of his side’s clash with the Lilywhites, and responded to a question asking who is the better striker out of Lukaku and Kane, as quoted by the Evening Standard:
“Both have 17 goals, both are really top strikers and top finishers. I don’t see much difference in that aspect. Kane is scoring goals but he will always score goals. In his movement, maybe Romelu is physically a little stronger than Kane. Romelu on a long run is still a bit faster physically and stronger.”
And after reading those comments, Kane will surely be even more motivated to prove that he is the Premier League’s best striker.
