Everton are reportedly split over a move for Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney.

According to The Mirror, Everton’s hierarchy are split over a deal for Manchester United attacker Wayne Rooney, with Farhad Moshiri’s advisers less than convinced about the move.
Rooney, now 31, came up through the ranks at Goodison Park, scoring 17 goals in 77 games for the Toffees before heading to Manchester United in a big-money deal in 2004.

Since then, Rooney has hit 253 goals in 559 games for United, becoming their all-time leading goalscorer, whilst he has also captained both the Red Devils and England in a successful career.
However, Rooney has struggled to nail down a first-team spot under Jose Mourinho this season, starting just 15 Premier League games, notching five goals and five assists for the Red Devils.

Many expect Rooney to move on this summer, and a return to Everton has been heavily tipped – but that could now be in danger, with reports of a split at Goodison Park over a move to re-sign him.
The Mirror claim that whilst Everton chairman Bill Kenwright and manager Ronald Koeman are both keen to bring Rooney back to the club where he started his career, the advisers to major investor Farhad Moshiri aren’t quite so enamoured.

It’s suggested that those close to Moshiri don’t believe Rooney will represent good value for money, as they would be forking out huge sums for a player with no re-sale value – and after a poor season, Moshiri’s advisers are more wary than ever.
That could leave Rooney looking elsewhere for a new club, and it certainly feels like it’s now or never for Rooney regarding a return to Everton. If reports are to be believed, that could be never.
