Tim Sherwood and Ian Wright were critical of Aaron Creswell’s ‘red card’ challenge during West Ham’s 3-2 win against Liverpool on Sunday, as they told Premier League Productions (07/11/21 at 5:30 pm).
Former Premier League striker Wright labelled it a ‘dangerous’ tackle, whilst ex-Premier League title-winner Sherwood thinks the West Ham defender ‘knows what he is doing’.
In the first half, Cresswell caught Henderson pretty high up on the leg, but the on-field referee or VAR didn’t deem it to be red card worthy.
In truth, it did prove to be a major talking point because the Hammers ended up beating Liverpool in an action-packed and entertaining affair at the London Stadium.
They also go above Liverpool in the Premier League table and they can now start to dream of Champions League football.
But this is what Sherwood and Wright had to make of Cresswell’s actions yesterday.
“Red card,” said Sherwood. “I still think it’s a red card. Cresswell knows what he is doing. He’s going to win the ball, but he knows that there is a chance that he’s going to leave a bit on Jordan Henderson.
“Two-footed, off the floor and it’s a red card.”
Wright added: “It’s still dangerous. You see Jordan Henderson actually move his foot out of the way.”

There’s no doubt that West Ham are in a Premier League title race and they are a team that need to be taken seriously now.
They have some of the best players in the Premier League, from high-flying forward Jarrod Bowen to the hard-hitting Declan Rice.
The job David Moyes has done at the London Stadium has been incredible and he is someone who is probably the best manager of 2021.
But it can get much, much better during these coming months, if they finish in the top four and win a trophy to boot.
