Liam Cooper and Lionel Messi. I bet you didn’t expect to see those two in the same sentence, but here we are talking about the Leeds United defender and the recently-crowned World Cup winner.
On Sunday, the final chapter of Lionel Messi’s illustrious, record-breaking, history-making and mind-blowing career was written when he helped Argentina secure World Cup glory against France in one of the most enthralling games of football ever played.
Finally, fans got to see one of the modern-day greats, and now to many, the greatest of all time, lift football’s biggest-ever prize.

The celebrations from those repping Argentina are still on-going, including images of Lionel Messi lying in bed alongside the World Cup trophy.
Well, a Leeds fan decided to compare Messi in bed with the World Cup trophy to Liam Cooper under the duvet, beer in hand and holding the Championship trophy, which the Yorkshire giants won under Marcelo Bielsa.
Cooper reacted to those two images being compared and he posted on his socials ‘Knows the drill that Messi fella’ added with laughing emojis.
HAS MESSI EVER DONE IT ON A COLD TUESDAY NIGHT IN STOKE?
Liam Cooper certainly has, but Messi hasn’t.
Joking aside, after years and years of debates, the on-field rivalry with Cristiano Ronaldo, for many, the dust has settled and Messi is now the greatest of all time.
That one trophy, which Diego Maradona won in 1986, the one which Brazil great Pele won a record-breaking three times, is now in the hands of Messi.
Not only can he put his name alongside those greats, but for many, he could now proudly says that he is the greatest football that has ever lived.
