Rangers manager Steven Gerrard wants to sign Dominic Solanke from Liverpool in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun.

It has been reported by the British tabloid that Gerrard wants to bring the 20-year-old striker on loan from Liverpool and wants to make the former Chelsea prospect his number one target.

The England international striker joined the Reds in the summer of 2017 after he left Premier League rivals Chelsea at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

Solanke, who earns £20,000 per week as salary according to Spotrac.com, has failed to make a huge impact at Anfield this season, making just four starts in the Premier League.

However, Rangers fans should not worry about the potential of the former Chelsea prospect, and what Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said about his character way back in November 2017 will encourage the Ibrox faithful.

ESPN quoted Klopp as saying about Solanke on November 18, 2017: “Apart from his football skills, his character is absolutely outstanding.”

Klopp added: “He doesn’t feel like ‘roll out the red carpet.’ He is a smart lad, very football smart and that makes him easy to work with.”

Liverpool would not have signed Solanke had they not noticed something special about him, and Klopp’s aforementioned comments about him suggest that he has the attitude to make it big and flourish at Ibrox, and Rangers fans should be optimistic.
