Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reportedly personally wants to sign Declan Rice from West Ham United.

Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has told GiveMeSport that West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice is Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp’s “forbidden dream”.

The reporter has added that Arsenal are leading the race for the 24-year-old England international midfielder.

The Guardian have reported that the Gunners are close to agreeing a transfer fee with West Ham over the signing of Rice in the summer transfer window.

Galetti said: “A mini revolution is expected in the Liverpool midfielder after the arrival of Mac Allister from Brighton. There will certainly be other signings, Declan Rice is for sure Klopp’s forbidden dream.

“The West Ham player will not renew his contract expiring in June 2024, and he’s ready to leave this summer after winning the Conference League. Arsenal are leading the race for him and he’s their top target, but anything could happen.”

Should Liverpool have tried harder for West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice?

Now, Rudy Galetti is not the only journalist to have information that Liverpool are interested in Declan Rice.

The Mirror and Sky Sports have also claimed that the midfielder is of interest to the Reds.

However, it seems that it is Arsenal who are on the verge of securing the services of the England international midfielder.

Could Liverpool have done more to get a deal done for Rice?

Possibly.

After all, just like Arsenal, Liverpool are a big club and a global brand who are hugely appealing to all players.

True, the Merseyside club have signed Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Hove Albion already this summer, they could do with one or two more dynamic midfielders.

Perhaps paying over £100 million for one player is simply not possible for Liverpool owners FSG.
