Liverpool hero Dean Saunders believes Jurgen Klopp is crying out for Jude Bellingham and Mason Mount after another underwhelming Premier League display against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Each of the last four meetings between two of England’s biggest clubs have now ended goalless.

And, in truth, Liverpool never looked like breaking that streak on Tuesday night, hanging on for long spells against a dominant Chelsea side who created pretty much every chance in the game while paying the price – once again – for their lack of a clinical edge.

Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Curtis Jones struggled to exert any sort of an influence as a much-changed Liverpool side held on for a scarcely-deserved point. And Saunders believes the summer transfer window cannot come soon enough, as far as Klopp is concerned.

Can Liverpool bring in Jude Bellingham and Mason Mount?

“I would go Bellingham and Mount,” Saunders, an FA Cup winner with the Reds in 1992, tells talkSPORT (4 April, 10pm).

“Put them straight in that team, and you will see a huge difference. You’ve got to pay (the money). Put your hand in your pocket. £200 million for both of them. Mount and Bellingham would make Liverpool a better team

“I like Mount. He’s got a sharp brain. Bellingham has got a load of potential, he’s like Steven Gerrard. Its hard to turn Liverpool down.”

Chelsea, according to The Athletic, want around £70 million for Mount. That is despite the fact the England international is entering the final 12 months of his contract, and appears unlikely to sign an extension as things stand.

Bellingham, meanwhile, is valued in the £100 million bracket by Borussia Dortmund. Not quite £200 million, then. But with Liverpool not quite possessing the spending power of rivals Manchester City, Chelsea and, takeover-permitting, Manchester United, Klopp may have no choice but to cast his net a little wider.

The Athletic say that Bellingham, who appears to be leaning towards Real Madrid, is likely to be too expensive for Liverpool this summer.
